Turnaround Manager - West Vancouver, BC & Fort McMurray, AB

Job Description:

For our consulting company we are looking to hire an experienced Turnaround Manager, who would support clients in setting up, preparing and executing their turnarounds, utilizing our best practice model while ‘hands-on’ coaching the client’s own personnel through the first of these events.

He would be responsible for organizing and leading low to high complexity turnarounds as well as outages. Specifically, he is chartered to manage all phases of the turnaround lifecycle starting with the scope development through to the close-out and follow-up. He would be accountable for organizing, planning, and delivering turnarounds according to agreed Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards as well as the planning, cost, quality, and design targets. Furthermore, he has to ensure a maximum operational availability during the post-turnaround production period.

Primary Objectives/Responsibilities:
• Turnaround organization design (Roles & Responsibilities) and resource planning for both owner/operator staff and contractors
• Scope definition & optimization
• Support contracting and procurement activities
• Effective capital projects and maintenance work-scope integration, including alignment of critical milestones
• Risk management, including contingency planning
• Readiness reviews
• Contracting partnering
• Management of Field execution, including quality, schedule and budget targets
• Scope management , change management
• Lessons learned capturing
• Shut down and start up readiness and execution (operating procedures, operator competence, operation shut down and start up plans, decontamination.)
Also important are the following special challenges:
• Guaranteeing the availability of resources and ensuring an appropriate focus, especially pre-turnaround
• Constant improvement of the overall turnaround process

Education & Experience
The minimum requirements for education and experience are listed below. Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• BS Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
• Extensive experience including successful engineering assignments in turnarounds and project management.
• In-depth knowledge (min. 10 yrs practical experience) of organizing, leading and executing turnarounds in order to meet HSE, cost, design and planning targets.
• Understanding and experience of turnaround organizational design and resource planning, scope definition, estimating, contracting and procurement, capital project integration and readiness reviews.
• Excellent communication and coaching skills are vital.
• Knowledge of and experience with SAP PM and Primavera Project Management software would be an asset.

• Experience in multiple disciplines is preferred
• Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills

Responsibilities:
- The responsibilities will include managing the daily operations, the further development and execution of the Sales and Growth strategy for the Canadian market (with a specific focus on the ‘Oil-Sands’ industry), the identification and hiring of new staff, the creation of training programs for our Canadian employees and the training of own employees as well as customer personnel

Experience:
In order to be COMPETITIVE for this position, you must have:
- A minimum of 5 years of working experience with the chemical and petro-chemical industry (preferably in the areas of Turnaround and Routine Maintenance planning and execution)
- Strong consulting skills and knowledge of ‘Best Practices’ for the Maintenance processes in the chemical and petro-chemical industry
- Strong training skills and the proven ability to create new training programs as well as deliver these to a diverse audience
- Experience in driving and managing complex multi-country software rollout projects for the chemical and petro-chemical industry
- Proven Business Development skills - Fluently bilingual - English & German (required)
- At least a 2-year educational degree
- existing experience in the Oil Sands industry and connections to the important players would be preferred

Salary range CAD 180k - 240k + Health Insurance + Car Allowance.

Dairy Farm Worker / Caretaker - Algonquin, ON

Caring for dairy animals including newborns to aged milking cows and everything in between. Keeping workplace tidy and organized. Milking cows in a parlor. Feeding animals using silos and conveyors;Also using round bales. Large heifers fed in freestall barn. Must use loader tractor with spear,grab,and bucket. Small repair jobs. Must be reliable and responsible with valid drivers license. One day off per week plus 3 days off every third weekend. Easy winter hours. Must be in good physical condition not minding the smell of manure and getting dirty. Would be working with one other full time employee,husband and wife owners and part time relief milking person. Some days work alone between milking times.Would be a plus to have good mechanical skills. Some minor tractor work required such as unloading loads into blower and raking hay,spreading manure. More tractor work if desired. Some square bale handling but mostly round bales and feeding from ag-bags. Wage plus small house with wood stove(free wood) you pay hydro.
