TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM MANAGER
The Edmonton Waste Management Centre of Excellence (EWMCE), an international leader in research, technology development, advisory services and training in all areas of waste management, is looking for a Technology Development Program Manager. This position is primarily based at the Wastewater Research & Training Centre located at EPCOR’s Gold Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant in Edmonton. The salary will depend on qualification and experience.
Key responsibilities include:
• Provide overall leadership and management of the EWMCE’s technology development activities, including development and implementation of the annual program budget and hiring and supervising staff
• Work closely with the EWMCE’s management team and support the activities of other Centre programs by contributing to the development of the Centre’s strategic, operational and financial plans
• Identify and attract revenue-generating projects for the EWMCE to ensure the economic sustainability of the EWMCE, serving both private-sector clients and EPCOR’s wastewater treatment operations
• Establish strategic alliances with key industry, academic, research and government organizations and funding agencies, identify funding opportunities and negotiate project agreements
• Play a key role in marketing the EWMCE’s current and future technology development activities to the Centre’s regional, national and international markets
• Provide technical support in design, commissioning and operation of pilot and demonstration-scale facilities and equipment, ensuring compliance with relevant industry specifications and standards
You have a degree in Engineering, are eligible for APEGGA membership, and have 3-5 years of private-sector experience in wastewater treatment. An advanced degree in Business will be an asset.
You are a mature, self-motivated, highly organized and flexible individual who is a strong communicator, with superior interpersonal, communication, teamwork and management skills. You demonstrate extensive and proven knowledge of Canadian business practice and culture. Experience with SME business development, technology development and commercialization and intellectual property management will be an asset.
You will also possess strong organizational, analytical, planning and problem-solving skills, along with the demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage simultaneously multiple projects under tight deadlines. Supervisory experience is required.
You must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and supply your own vehicle for business use as required. You will be reimbursed in accordance with the Centre’s car allowance policy. On-site parking is provided. Limited traveling nationally and internationally will be required.
