Job Description:
Reporting to the Residential Manager, this position supports adults with developmental disabilities in maintaining a home that reflects their values and choices. The DSW assists people in areas such as daily living needs such as relationship building, community participation and inclusion, grocery shopping, banking, administering and monitoring medication, providing information regarding nutrition, coordination of medical and professional appointments and encouraging individuals to make personal choices and decisions based on their goals and desires are provided.
Qualifications:
Degree in Social Sciences and/or Disability and Community Support Program Diploma is preferred, but not necessary.
Experience supporting individuals living with a developmental disability is an asset.
Candidates will be team players who handle change well, demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have a positive attitude with the desire to support adults with developmental disabilities in all areas of community and residential living.
Requirements for the position include the ability to multi-task, problem solve and resolve conflicts, as well the ability to maintain integrity in all situations. Creativity and imaginativeness is an asset, along with the ability to be resourceful.
The ability to read, write and speak English fluently is necessary. Successful candidates will be required to provide a clear criminal record check, child abuse registry check and attend First Aid and Non Violent Crisis Intervention training.
A valid Driver’s license supported by a clear driver’s abstract and access to a vehicle is an asset but not required.
Starting wage $10.70 - $11.55 hourly depending on qualifications. Wage Premiums offered. Excellent Benefits available for qualifying positions.
Full-time, Part-time, Casual (evenings, weekend, nights) available.
