Job Description:
Reporting to the Program Coordinator the Direct Service Worker provides supports to people with developmental disabilities in pursuing their vocational, recreational, and social goals. Supports may be provided in either group or one-on-one settings, both on and off site of the program. Appropriate documentation and reporting, working within the structure of a team environment, ability to find and utilize community resources, crisis intervention and other duties as required by individuals supported will be required.

Qualifications:
Post Secondary education, Degree in Social Sciences and/or Disability and Community Support Program Diploma is preferred, but not required.
Experience supporting individuals living with a developmental disability is an asset.
Have a strong commitment to the philosophy and values of supported employment.
The ability to read, write and speak English fluently is necessary.
Requirements for the position include the ability to multi-task, problem solve and have effective crisis intervention skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well the ability to maintain integrity in all situations. Creativity and imaginativeness is an asset.
Successful candidates will be required to provide a clear criminal record check, child abuse registry check and hold current First Aid/CPR certification. Non Violent Crisis Intervention training is required but is not necessary prior to hire as training is provided.
Only applicants with a valid Drivers License with the ability to obtain a Class IV license will be considered for these positions. Access to a vehicle is preferred, but not necessary.
Starting wage $10.36 – $11.55 hourly, depending on qualifications. Excellent benefits available including health, dental, eye-care, prescription drug plan and more.
