This position is based at the WRTC, but will have considerable interaction with Centre staff based at other facilities. The hourly rate will depend on qualifications and experience. Consideration may be given to incorporation of flexible work hours.<br /><br />Key functions will include:<br />&bull; General office administration<br />&bull; Maintain files and reference library<br />&bull; Reception functions<br />&bull; Assist with committee meetings<br />&bull; Assist with logistics of delegation visits, technical seminars and other events<br /><br />You have a high school diploma, proven work experience in general office administration and an interest in working in a not-for-profit organization with a focus in the environmental field. An Office Assistant Diploma will be considered an asset.<br />You are a self-motivated, highly organized and flexible individual with strong attention to detail. You are a good communicator with effective interpersonal and teamwork skills. You are able to multi-task and are skilled in using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).</p><p>You must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver&rsquo;s License and supply your own vehicle for business use as required. Salary is negotiable and depends on qualifications and experience. Key responsibilities of the position include:<br />a) Develop and implement an integrated Marketing and Communications Strategy for the EWMCE based on the Strategic Business Plan<br />b) Establish an annual reporting and evaluation process linked to the EWMCE marketing and communication goals and objectives and output/outcome targets<br />c) Develop and implement an internal and external communication strategy and evaluate effectiveness of information sharing systems between partners and stakeholders<br />d) Identify, participate in and evaluate promotional opportunities that support the EWMCE marketing goals and objectives<br />e) Manage the development, production and distribution of appropriate marketing materials and promotional items as identified by the Marketing and Communications Strategy, including website maintenance and updating<br />f) Collaborate with the managers of the Education, Research, Technology Development and Advisory Service Programs of the EWMCE and support their programs as needed<br />g) Coordinate and support the promotion of all events and activities at the Centre, including Technical Seminars and Operator Training Courses<br />h) Develop and maintain strategic working relationships with local, regional, provincial and national media and other key contacts to promote the EWMCE<br />i) Manage and maintain a database of individuals and organizations, locally, nationally and internationally and a database of photographs of the EWMCE facilities and activities</p><p>You have a degree in Marketing and Communications or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years of work experience, a track record in successful development and implementation of marketing and communications initiatives. You have a strong interest in working in the environmental field and are able to relate to the overall concept of the EWMCE.</p><p>You are self-motivated and enjoy a flexible and dynamic work environment. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and effective interpersonal and teamwork skills. Our employees share a common philosophy that research into waste management contributes to environmental sustainability and better quality of life.&nbsp;We operate from two facilities: the Goldbar Wastewater Research and Training Centre (WRTC) and the Cover Bar Solid Waste Research and Development Facility.</p><p>Reporting to the Executive Manager and working closely with the managers of the other program areas, the Research Program Manager will be part of the executive management team.</p><p>Key responsibilities of the position include:<br />&bull; Overall management of EWMCE&rsquo;s research activities<br />&bull; Coordination and administration of the EWMCE&rsquo;s Research Committee <br />&bull; Establishment and regular review of the EWMCE&rsquo;s research priorities<br />&bull; Development of new partnerships and enhancing existing relationships with companies, funding agencies and research institutions to advance the EWMCE&rsquo;s research program,<br />&bull; Identification and funding opportunities and preparation of research proposals and grant applications with project partners<br />&bull; Development, implementation and regular review of all policies and procedures related to the research program, including initiation, approval, and quality control and quality assurance of research projects<br />&bull; Working closely with researchers, graduate students, and support staff of the EWMCE and its partners to ensure successful completion of projects<br />&bull; Dissemination of research results through presentations and publications<br />&bull; Playing a key role in marketing of EWMCE&rsquo;s current and future research activities to the Centre&rsquo;s regional and international markets<br />&bull; Cooperating with the EWMCE&rsquo;s Marketing Coordinator on the development of research program-related content for promotional material, including website<br />&bull; Development and implementation of annual budget for the research program <br />&bull; Hiring and supervision of support staff for the research program<br />&bull; Establishment and administration of a general research fund</p><p>You have an advanced degree, preferably PhD, in a relevant discipline and a minimum of 3 years of successful work experience in a research environment, a track record in grant application and project management and a strong interest in working in the environmental field, managerial and/or consulting experience are an advantage, familiarity with applied research in and industrial setting is desirable.</p><p>You are self-motivated, highly organized and flexible with the ability to work in a dynamic environment, with excellent written and verbal communication skills and effective interpersonal and teamwork skills. You will also possess strong problem-solving skills, are able to multi-task in a dynamic work environment and able to relate to the overall concept of the EWMCE.</p><p>It is a renewable 3-year contract position.
